Place Rogier, a challenge in the heart of the city

Although the renovation of place Rogier was delayed a little following an architecture competition launched by the Brussels region in partnership with the commune, investors did not hang around to launch themselves in large-scale projects.

Projects such as the Dexia tower with its 4500 employees, Covent Garden which will also house European civil servants and the Fortis Bank project to build a tower on the rue de Brabant – part of which is located in Saint-Josse - are all important examples and of course the Proximus and Belgacom towers are not a million miles away. Residential real estate in this business district which attracts more than 15,000 workers, is also undergoing important changes.

Rue du Progrès and place Rogier are also the site of one of the most densely concentrated number of hotels in the capital with more than 2,000 rooms. But the real challenge is without a doubt the Downtown Men’s Street project launched by the BBC (Brussels Business Centre), a real estate branch of Dexia. This project is the first European business space dedicated to men. 3500 m2 of commercial space located at the foot of the Dexia tower and in the Brabant tunnel, a prolongation of rue Neuve, the most dynamic shopping street in Belgium.
